What is Eco-Schools?

Eco-Schools is implemented in 101 countries! Eco-Schools can be found in 79 countries through Foundation of Environmental Education (FEE) member organisations and in 22 countries through international schools.  

As of this year 2025, there are 52,552 Eco-Schools are the world and 13,700,972 students registered in Eco-Schools.


FEE Education Awards Ceremony & Celebration

Tuesday 3 June (14:30–15:45 UTC+2)

Join us for the international FEE Education Awards Ceremony, an online event honouring outstanding achievements in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) across the Eco-Schools network. The event celebrates innovative teaching, impactful lesson planning, and alignment with UNESCO’s Greening Curriculum Guidance and FEE’s GAIA framework. We will also premiere the “What is Eco-Schools?” video - a global collaboration between seven schools from seven countries, showcasing the voices of our network in action. More than just an award show, this event is a celebration of best practices and a chance to connect with passionate educators and learners worldwide.

Each school follows a Seven Step change process and empowers their young people to lead processes and actions wherever they can.

The Foundation for Environmental Education has launched FEE Academy, an online learning platform offering a number of free courses for students, teachers and National Operators. The Eco-Schools programme currently has four courses available!
